A repeat client came to Precision of Bainbridge to get window tint on his new 2020 Dodge Challenger. While waiting, he asked about options we had that would allow him to add more bass to the factory stereo system. We took him over to our sound room to let him hear some of our single 12-inch subwoofers in an Atrend ported box. This is exactly the size and sound he was looking for his Challenger.
We started by getting a signal from the factory amplifier using an Audio-Control LC2i two-channel line output converter. The LC2i takes a speaker-level signal from the factory-installed amplifier and converts it to a preamp-level voltage that can be fed directly to the amplifier. We mounted a Rockford PLC-2 remote control to the R2-500X1 amplifier and put the adjustment knob in the fuse panel cover on the lower portion of the dash. The client can use this control to adjust the output of the subwoofer system so it blends to suit the music he chooses.
The Rockford Fosgate R2-500X1 amplifier provides up to 500 watts of power to our Rockford P2d412 subwoofer to ensure that the system will play just as it sounded in our showroom. We used MESA 4-AWG power cabling and interconnects to feed power and audio signals to the amplifier.
After configuring the amplifier to ensure that the output of the subwoofer would blend nicely with the rest of the system, we let the client know his Dodge Challenger was ready to be picked up. He was thrilled with the upgrade and how his new subwoofer preformed!
