A client from Iron City brought his 2022 Jeep Wrangler to Precision Audio for some stereo system and accessory upgrades. On the audio side, the client wanted a new multimedia radio and speakers. On his list of accessories: new wheels and tires, a lift kit, light bar, bumpers, step bars and a winch. To tie it together, we finished the package with premium window tint.
Jeep Wrangler Stereo Upgrade
The client chose a Kenwood DMX4707S multimedia receiver as the heart of the new sound system. We integrated the radio into the dash with a color-matched trim kit, so it looks perfect. We also used an ADS Maestro RR interface to allow the radio to communicate with the data network in the Jeep. The radio can display dashboard information like engine speed, vehicle speed and engine load information. The Jeep has a factory-installed backup camera, so we used a Linkswell JDCAMADPT interface to allow it to work with the Kenwood radio.
The client chose two sets of JL Audio C2-650X speakers to upgrade the sound system. We installed one pair in the lower dash locations and the second in the overhead sound bar.
Suspension, Wheel and Tire Upgrades
With the audio system upgrade complete, it was time to turn our attention to the mechanical side of this Jeep Wrangler upgrade project. We lifted the Jeep on one of our hoists and removed the stock wheels and tires and some of the suspension components. The client chose a 2.5-inch lift kit from Rough Country. We installed the new front and rear springs and shocks along with the nitrogen-charged N3 shock absorbers. The kit is a complete bolt-on solution that includes all fasteners and brackets.
Once the suspension was back together, we mounted a set of 35×12.5/20 Nitto Ridge Grappler tires on one-piece Fuel D560 Vapor 20-inch wheels using our Hunter tire machine and Road Force balancer. Our Hunter equipment helps ensure that the new wheel and tire package will deliver a smooth and stable ride, even at freeway speeds.
Jeep Accessories Complete the Package
The next step was to remove the front and rear bumpers to make way for Fab Fours Matrix bumpers. The client opted for the integrated Pre-Runner guard on the front bumper for a tougher look and better grille and light protection. We added a 30-inch Rough Country 7073BL LED light bar, a PRO9500S 9,500-pound winch to the front and a Curt 13392 trailer hitch to the rear bumper.
We finished the body upgrades with a set of N-Fab Podium LG Nerf-style side steps to help make it easier for the driver and passenger to get into the now taller Jeep. The bumpers and steps all bolt directly to the Jeep, and as always, we used our Snap-On torque wrench to ensure that every fastener was safe and secure.
Llumar Premium Window Tint Adds Comfort
The last step in personalizing this Jeep was to roll the vehicle into our dedicated dust-free window tint bay to install Llumar CTX window film. All of the tint we install is cut using a computer-controlled plotter, so there is never a chance of us scratching the glass on cutting any rubber trim on the vehicle. The CTX film offers impressive infrared heat rejection to make the vehicle more comfortable. It also blocks more than 99% of the sun’s UV rays to protect the occupants and prevent plastics and fabrics from fading and cracking prematurely.
