Rockford Fosgate Marine
You already knew that Rockford Fosgate has been making some of the best car audio products for decades, but did you know they have some of the best gear for your boat? Adding great sound to your boat isn’t as simple as putting amplifiers and speakers designed for a car into the harsh environment of a boat. Marine products must be specially engineered to hold up to heat, UV, water spray, and the pounding a boat can take hitting the waves.
It all Begins with the Source
A standard car radio or CD player wouldn’t last long in a marine environment. Rockford has a full line-up of source units starting with a basic waterproof digital media receiver. From there, you can add features such as TFT displays, AM/FM and weather band, and Bluetooth. You can even add SiriusXM Satellite Radio. Most Rockford source units will have some built-in power to get you going, and have the necessary pre-outs to add on amplifiers and subwoofer systems.
Lots of Amplifier Choices
All Rockford marine amps are built to be waterproof and meet marine-grade standards. There is the Prime series to build a good basic system, the Punch series for an upgrade to better performance in a compact chassis, and the Power series for those who want the ultimate in sound performance for your boat. You can choose amplifiers from one to five channels of power, with up to 1000 watts in a single chassis.
Lots of Speaker Options
Boats also offer challenges for speakers– and Rockford Fosgate Marine is up for it again. There are coaxial speakers similar to what you would put in your car. However, they are waterproof for the marine environment. There are completely-enclosed speakers that can mount to any wakeboard tower on a ski boat that can keep you entertained, and even the person on skis behind your boat! You can even add specially-designed marine grade subwoofers for the ultimate system.

I loved your tip to have an extra battery if you plan to play music while the boat is off. If getting a new sound system, asking the installers what they would recommend for a new battery would be helpful. It makes sense to try to get something that will not leave you stranded but will still keep you entertained.
