A repeat customer from Camila, Georgia, recently stopped by Precision in Bainbridge, looking to upgrade the wheels and tires on her 2021 Toyota Camry. With an idea of what she was looking for already in mind, it took no time for her to decide on a set of 20-inch PR193 Performance Replicas and 245/35/20 Nexen N5000 Platinum tires. We placed the order for her wheels and set an appointment for her for the following week.
We started by pulling the Camry onto our chassis lift and removing the stock wheels and tires. After breaking down each of the factory wheels using our Hunter Tire machine, we removed each Tire Pressure Monitor Sensor (TPMS). After we remove the sensors, we rebuild them onto the aftermarket wheels. This ensures that the aftermarket wheels will still have the same safety features, such as the low-tire pressure warning, as the original factory wheels.
We then used our Hunter Tire machine to mount the new tires. Our Hunter machine has a lever-less toolhead, which prevents the chance of damage to the wheel and tire. Next, we ran all four tires up to speed on our Hunter Road Force Balancing machine. The Road Force machine ensures that the wheels and tires ride smoothly, even at freeway speeds.
Once this was complete, we mounted the wheels using a set of locking lug nuts that will help keep them safe from theft. To finish the install, we use a torque wrench to properly torque each lug nut to the factory specifications of the vehicle. Doing this ensures that none of the studs will be damaged, stripped or potentially broken from over-tightening with an air-impact gun.
Our customer was pleased at how good her Camry looked with its new wheels and tires.
