A new client from Climax, Georgia, came to Precision Audio after seeing some of the work we have done for Franklin’s Spring Creek Ford over in Colquitt. They usually have several vehicles on their lot to show off the different accessories we can supply. This client came to us inquiring about a tool box, leveling kit and step bars. We went through the various catalogs and websites for the brands we carry and came up with a plan to add some additional functionality and style to his 2016 Ford F-350 with our accessory choices.
The Ends
We started the project by replacing the front and rear bumpers with fabricated units from Fab Four. He chose the Black Steel style for both the front and rear and decided not to go with the integrated guard on the front to give the truck a meaner look. We mounted a pair of Rough Country LED light bars in the front grill for a little added illumination after the sun sets.
The Top
We tinted the windshield with Llumar Air 80 ceramic film and the side and rear windows with ATR metallized film. We added a sun strip across the top of the windshield with ATR film. We also added a set of Auto Ventshade Ventvisors to the side windows so he can leave the windows down a bit for fresh air, even when it’s raining.
The Middle
When the truck was up on our hoist, we installed a set of full-length TrailFX step bars to make it easier to get into and out of the truck. A ReadyLift Stage 1 1.5-inch leveling kit helped perfect the stance of the truck. We replaced the wheels and tires with 20-inch Fuel Vapor wheels with a black center and dark-tinted accent finish. We mounted Nitto Terra Grappler G2 tires sized at 35×12.50R20LT in all four corners.
We wrapped up the exterior work with a Camlocker King Size 19-inch deep toolbox, finished in the same black treadplate as the front and rear bumpers. The client chose a clean look for the toolbox, the tubular rails on the top add additional functionality.
Inside
The client mentioned that the stock audio system was lacking good bass response – a common trait in most vehicles with factory audio systems. We used an Audio Control LC2i interface to properly extract an audio signal from the factory head unit. The output of the LC2i interface feeds a Rockford Fosgate Punch P500X1bd amplifier that we mounted beside the Audio Control piece in the storage tray under the rear seat. We used a custom-fit, carpeted, subwoofer enclosure from ATrend to house a pair of Rockford Fosgate Punch P3SD2-10 shallow-mount subwoofers.
As with all of our audio installations, we used our test equipment to ensure that the output of the interface module and the amplifier was optimized for maximum signal quality and level. This ensures maximum output from the subwoofers while providing excellent system reliability.
Client Loved His New F350 Accessories
The customer anxiously returned to Precision Audio to see the transformation we had made to his truck. He was thrilled with the new look of the exterior and pleased that it now sounded like a real stereo inside.
