A client from Camilla came to Precision Audio with his 2014 Sun Tracker Pontoon boat, looking to do some upgrading on his marine audio system. He stressed that he wanted it to be clear and loud with some good bass. One of our specialists went out to the boat with him to look over the layout and discuss some ideas.
With a plan in mind, it was time for our guys to go to work. We started by installing a Kenwood KMR-D768Bt, which would give him all of the features he wanted and more. It was also a good basis for the upgraded amplifiers and speakers we were installing. We chose a Rockford Fosgate PM1000X5. This is one of their top-of-the-line marine amps, designed to take a beating and keep on cranking. It supplies more than 800 watts of clean power, so the client can enjoy concert-level volume any time he chooses.
Our install team added an extra marine battery to ensure the customer could play the system for hours with no issues.
When it came time for bass, we went back to Rockford Fosgate, choosing one of their 12-inch PM212S4 marine subwoofers. We installed it in an Atrend Single Vented woofer box in the footwell of the boat, which keeps it out of the way while maximizing the sound.
To top off the audio system, we upgraded the boat’s deck speakers with two pairs of RM1652 6.5” marine coaxial speakers from Rockford, with one pair in the front and another in the rear. This is a great-sounding speaker designed to take the abuse of life on the water while supplying crystal-clear sound, just like our customer wanted.
Wow, was he happy with the finally product!
