A client from here in Bainbridge recently contacted the team at Precision Audio about upgrading the radio and speakers in his daughter’s 2016 Jeep Wrangler. After inspecting the vehicle and talking to the client about how she liked to listen to her music, we proposed adding a subwoofer, a monoblock amplifier and a four-channel amp for the speakers to make the system play louder and sound better. The client was happy with our proposal and gave us the approval to schedule an installation appointment.
Jeep Wrangler Kenwood Multimedia Radio Upgrade

The first step was to remove the factory radio from the dash of the Jeep Wrangler to make way for a Kenwood DMX905S digital media receiver. This double-DIN radio features a 6.95-inch capacitive touch color display and includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration technology. These technologies will allow the client’s daughter to send text messages, make phone calls or choose the entertainment she wants from her smartphone via voice control, without having to take her eyes off the road.
JL Audio Speakers and Subwoofers
The next order of business was to upgrade the front and overhead speakers with two sets of JL Audio C1-650X 6.5-inch coaxial speakers. These new speakers fit in the factory locations in the lower part of the dash and the overhead sound bar. We used a four-channel Kenwood KAC-M1814 to provide up to 45 watts of power to each speaker so that the system will sound clear and detailed, even at higher volume levels.
The client chose a pair of JL Audio Stealthbox subwoofer enclosures for the Jeep. The passenger-side and driver-side SB-J-WRUP/10TW1/BK enclosures are each home to a single 10-inch W1-Series subwoofer. The client wanted a subwoofer solution that sounded good and wouldn’t take up any valuable storage space in the back of the Jeep. The perfect fit and finish of the Stealthboxes was the icing on the cake.
The subwoofers are powered by a 750-watt Rockford Fosgate T750X1bd Power-Series amplifier. The compact 8.3-by-4.3-inch footprint of this amp helped make it easier to install in the vehicle.
Georgia’s Jeep Accessory Experts
The client returned to Precision Audio at the end of the day, excited to see and hear the sound system upgrades we performed. We showed him how the new Jeep Wrangler radio works and demonstrated how to pair Bluetooth and connect a smartphone for Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. He was thrilled with the work and the sound of the system. If you are interested in upgrading your Jeep’s stereo system, drop by our store in Bainbridge or our new location in Thomasville. JL entry level shallow sub’s sound really good and they’re loud. Good work!
What an awesome upgrade! The combination of the Kenwood radio, JL Audio speakers, and Stealthbox subs must make this Jeep sound incredible.
