Our client here came in complaining of the factory Toyota audio system. Bad as it has always been, starting to actually sound worse. This is a notorious problem of Toyota factory audio. But one we can easily remedy.
4Runner Cheap, Factory, Paper Cones
This is what you get with “premium” factory audio. Cheap, paper cones. With no stability, power, or true tonal quality to them.
Aftermarket Options
- We mount aftermarket speakers using templated plates and custom brackets. This ensures that we match factory mounting shapes and fastener locations.
- The mounting rings also create a barrier. Keeping the metal of the speaker basket off of the metal of the door. This reduces vibration significantly. Sound damping material is also added as needed to reduce further vibration and noise.
- Aftermarket speakers plastic polymer cones give a much brighter, more stable and fuller sound than cheap factory cones.
- Center-mounted tweeters give a new, two-way dynamic to the sound of the coaxials. Increasing high and mid-high range frequencies.
Better Control
Better control is achieved here with a Kenwood eXcelon multimedia touchscreen. Replacing the headunit in this 4Runner gave a considerable amount of new options for control and tuning of the audio system. As well as additional add-ons such as SiriusXM satellite radio, Bluetooth, and more.
Adding Bass
The customer requested additional bass, which factory systems lack as well. We added a small Rockford Fosgate Punch amplifier and single, ported subwoofer. The bass response was phenomenal!
