A client from Cairo, GA, recently stopped by Precision looking to update the factory system in his 2020 Chevrolet Malibu. While discussing a system for the Malibu, he said the factory system was just how he liked it vocally, but lacked the bass he was accustomed to having in his previous cars. With an idea in mind, we took him over to our sound room to let him hear some of our pre-loaded Amp/Sub boxes. This is exactly the size and sound he was looking for in a system.
One of the features that he liked most about this vehicle was the amount of cargo room in the trunk. These newer Malibus have a very spacious trunk and he wanted a system that wouldn’t take up a majority of that space. Rockford Fosgate designed this box perfectly: At 26″W x 15″H x 11.5″D, this hatchback-style ported box still delivers the punch they’ve always been known for without taking up a lot room. The internal 500 watt Class D amplifier is a nice touch to accompany the pre-load 12” subwoofer.
In most cases, when the customer keeps the factory radio, we would install an LC2I Line Output Converter. These converters accept speaker-level signals and convert them to high-quality pre-amp signals that can then be directed to aftermarket processors and/or amplifiers. The Rockford P500-12P has an internal converter already built in, yet again making this system one of the best-sounding pre-load systems on the market. The 8 gauge wire that powers the system comes with quick disconnects, meaning the system can be taken out and put back in at any given moment.
After a little fine-tuning, it was time to pull the vehicle around for our customer. The system was everything the customer wanted and asked for.
