A repeat customer from Bainbridge recently contacted Precision about updating the factory radio in her 2014 Honda Odyssey. This particular van happened to be a base model, so it did not come with a backup camera or Bluetooth capabilities. Being a mother, one of her main concerns was making driving conditions safer, easier and more hands-free. By replacing the factory radio, we could give her the peace of mind of being hands-free and being able to see what’s behind her with a backup camera.
The Kenwood DMX-4707S is a double-DIN multimedia receiver with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. These features allow the driver to make or receive phone calls safely, listen to or send text messages, and even plan navigation routing by simply pressing a button and talking to the radio. The Kenwood radio features a vibrant 6.75-inch LCD screen, along with many other features, including HD radio, Bluetooth audio and rear camera inputs for a backup camera.
To begin the install, we started by removing the factory radio from the Odyssey. The Metra wiring harness allowed us to retain the factory radio plug and wire up our Kenwood DMX-4707S harness properly without cutting any of the factory radio wires.
After hooking up the radio, we installed one of our best-selling Echomaster PCAM-10L cameras. This IP67-rated camera will withstand all weather conditions and provide a clear 170-degree view of any objects behind the vehicle. The Echomaster camera also gives the customer the option of parking lines — a great feature that makes it easier to parallel park or navigate while in reverse.
The customer was pleased with the way things turned out and loved her new Odyssey upgrades.
