One of our returning customers from Bainbridge, GA, recently contacted Precision Audio about upgrading the factory system in his 2012 Ford F-150. Like most factory systems, the bass response was very weak. With a game plan in mind and approval from the customer, it was time to get started!
Since he wanted to keep his factory radio, we chose the Audio Control LC2i two-channel line output converter to integrate with his stock system. For the amplifier, he brought us an Alpine amp his brother had purchased from us years ago and passed down to him. To finish up his new setup, we decided to use a custom Atrend truck box, which is tuned specifically for two 10-inch shallow subwoofers that would be filled with our Rockford Fosgate R2SD2-10.
We installed the system using an 8 gauge amp kit, which we fused at the battery to protect the equipment from any shortages. The line output converter restored the bass, which is restricted by most factory systems. To complete the installation, we tuned the amplifier to prevent any clipping or distortion, resulting in a clean audiophile sound.
While we had the truck, the customer also ordered and had us install a set of new 20” Fuel Assault Rims wrapped around a Toyo Open Country AtII in a 33 x 12.5 x 20 with a TrailFx Leveling Kit, which allowed the proper clearance for the new wheels and tires.
Once it all was done, we called the customer to say we had finished the install and he was ready to go.
It was nice seeing our equipment being passed down from one brother to another, and even better seeing someone return to Precision years later to receive the same excellent service that has brought customers back time and time again.
